Walking with Widows
Together we are finding a way forward
Life comes with twists and turns that we never see coming. For me, the sudden loss of my husband was a dramatic turn causing definite change in the direction I saw for my life. It is from this loss, that my life is foraging through and making a new path. A path that I would have never chosen, but now that I am on it, I am helping others find strength to put one foot in front of the other. Together, we are finding a way forward. Together, we are Walking with Widows.

Vulnerable post: Hands on the wheel just a quick drive and back this morning. Singing along with my girl CeCe about the goodness of God when my ears hear the siren of the oncoming first responder vehicle. As always when I hear sirens, I whisper a prayer for the...

You can be surrounded with people and still feel completely alone. It’s amazing how the pressure to be perceived as “has it together” can overwhelm and unravel one piece by piece. Loneliness is real. It’s a sense that the world is okay to spin about without you. Often...

One of the stages of grief is reinvention. It arrives just after acceptance has taken vacancy. It doesn’t really announce it’s arrival because it takes more than a moment to execute. Reinvention requires courage to step out of comfort zones, push beyond familiarity...

God is still good and God is still faithful. These last two years have been full of opportunities to Trust God on levels I never imagined existed. I continue to evolve into a woman who is braver than she realized and stronger than expected. It’s painful yet powerful....

Will this week ever not be referred to as “the last time we _______________ together”? Even at the first of this week, all I can think about are our lasts. Grief is not kind. It doesn’t ask permission to enter and often times no matter my attempt, it just won’t leave....

September…..that month that forever holds the memory of your death. So many other significant days in this month like birthdays and Anniversaries yet all seem to be overshadowed by The Day. It doesn’t really seem fair honestly. How do we celebrate the others without...

It’s astounding how grief slides into a perfectly amazing day and whalla…cue Tears. One thing I’ve had to accept is that tears are a language. The language of love. Despite my every effort to press on, move forward or be strong…those tears just keep creeping in. Like...

To be completely honest, I really am a private person. When my favorite human died, I was so disoriented and devastated posting my journey was the last thing on my list. When I received the assignment, I fought against it. I had the best argument (or so I thought) I...
